One of my favourite childhood films was Labyrinth, and that grew into a favourite film as a teen and beyond. As a child I liked the puppets and songs, and as a 19-year-old Goth sat in my halls of residence at uni watching the DVD on my computer I loved the beautiful Gothic love story too (as a child I felt the ballroom scene was boring, as a teen I loved it). It was that film that sparked my love of David Bowie's music - but I think this is a favourite (although I do tend to sing "Magic Pants..."):
I'm a fan of Harry Potter, but I think my favourite Alan Rickman role was that of the Metatron in Dogma. I think that's the definition of perfect casting right there.
"I'm pissed off, is what I am! Do you go around drenching everybody that comes into your room with flame-retardant chemicals? No wonder you're single."
NSFW, but genius!
And last, but by no means least, as a teenager I spent plenty of time in my bedroom listening to heavy metal. Motorhead were legends in the genre. I think picking up a copy of White Line Fever (Lemmy's autobiography) is going to happen very soon.
Ace of Spades has been played a lot lately, but I really like this collaboration with Girlschool...
So, RIP David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Lemmy.
...and 2016? I think you should slow down now. Thanks.
